Writing Programs

Your Greatest Writing Adventure Ever!!

nanokids
WHO: Any school-aged student through 8th grade who can write
WHEN: Tuesdays 1:30-2:30, October 18-December 6*
LOCATION: The Garden Road School, Crompond, NY

What is inside your brain just waiting to be set free? Ninjas? Dragons? Wizards? Talking trees? Monsters? Princes and princesses? Students learning in an upside-down school? Friendships? Aliens? Skateboarding superheroes?

Well, now is your chance to find out! Join a group of enthusiastic young writers, some of whom are already published, as we venture into the territory of story writing together. We will meet together in real places and, when we can’t do that, in a virtual classroom hosted by National Novel Writing Month’s Young Writers Program.

We will be meeting in October for prewriting activities that are really fun (and aligned to curriculum standards), then throughout November to write like crazy. Benefits will include:
  • Personal and collective progress charts
  • Making new friends
  • A button (pin) for each participant when we reach our word count goal
  • The Dare Machine
  • Word wars and word sprints
  • Pep talks to keep us going
  • A party at the end to celebrate “Thank goodness it’s over!”
  • Certificates of completion
  • Guidance for editing and self-publishing our work

The cost for the program is $100 for the eight weeks, plus $15 for the bound book. Contact me to sign up.

Remember, the story doesn’t have to be good, and you don’t have to worry about spelling or grammar until later. It’s all about the fun of writing. Let’s have a blast! Please register below by October 8 to reserve your place and so I can order materials for you.

Read more about how the program works at this blog post.

*A similar program will be run after school at the Hendrick Hudson Free Library in Montrose, at 6:30 PM.
